At the start of last year I was living life like any other 29 year old. I had settled into my new career and was months off marrying the love of my life. While stretching I noticed a small lump just above my collarbone. CT scans, PET scans, surgery and my symptoms (tiredness, weightloss and night sweats) would determine I had a rare type of blood cancer called Anaplastic large cell lymphoma. My first appointment confirmed I had to begin intensive chemotherapy right away. My life was about to be turned upside down and I was given a 50% chance of surviving it. We brought our wedding forward and traded our cook islands honeymoon for a room on Heath wing 2, haemotolgy ward Geelong hospital. My next 6 months was spent between here and the Andrew Love cancer centre. The amazing team of Doctors, Nurses and staff at the Andrew Love cancer centre and Geelong Hospital are the reason I am here today. And for this I need to have to give something back. This fundraising page will be going around to hopefully raise some much needed money and raise awareness of blood cancers for the Geelong hospital and Andrew love cancer centre. Lymphomas are the most common form of haematological or blood cancer in Australia, and the sixth most common form of cancer overall.
You never truely know how excellent our local medical facilities are until you need them yourself and I am so thankful for the treatment I was given. I am also hosting a fundraiser/31st birthday party for all
Friends and family that supported myself and Kacey through this journey, this is a great way to celebrate my 30th Birthday I had while undergoing treatment last year, and to celebrate me moving my way forward to 12 months in remission, Please share this around as more and more people are diagnosed everyday and the Andrew Love cancer centre/ Geelong hospital need all the help they can get to help these people through the long journey to
recovery. Any donation big or small will be appreciated, and thank you for taking the the time to read my story,
